About Dr. Choe Ching
Clinical Psychologist • Director • The Grey Matters
I help people who think deeply, feel intensely, and hold themselves to high standards find steadier ground and gentler inner dialogue.
Dr. Choe Ching completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Queensland, Australia, and has over 20 years of experience in adult mental health. Her career spans both private and public mental health services, including work in inpatient and community settings.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Ching lectured full-time at the National University of Singapore (NUS) for three years, teaching Clinical Psychology to graduate students. During this time, she also managed the Clinical and Health Psychology Centre (CHPC) and provided clinical supervision to students completing their Master's degree in Clinical Psychology. She continues to supervise trainee psychologists and mentor other mental health professionals.
Therapeutic Philosophy & Approach
Dr. Ching believes that adults struggle when the challenges they face exceed the resources they have to cope. Therapy is about closing that gap—strengthening existing resources and equipping clients with new life skills that foster resilience and wellbeing.
Her approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to each client. She draws on a range of evidence-based therapies, including:
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-
Schema Therapy
-
Mindfulness-based approaches
-
Psychodynamic therapy
She places particular emphasis on developing adaptability—the ability to respond flexibly to life’s challenges. Adaptability helps people behave in self-enhancing, goal-directed ways, while rigidity often leads to self-defeating patterns.
